特別展特攻―知覧・万世に遺された若者たちの思い― (Special Exhibition: Kamikaze - Thoughts of Young People Left in Chiran and Mansei)

太平洋戦争末期、沖縄戦において爆装した飛行機もろとも敵艦に体当たり攻撃をする“特攻作戦”が行われました。特攻隊員の多くは20歳前後の若者でした。鹿児島にある知覧特攻平和会館と万世特攻平和祈念館の協力により、特攻に至る経緯、特攻の出撃基地などを説明したパネルを展示します。また、特攻隊員の遺影、遺書もあわせて紹介します。(During the final stages of the Pacific War, a "kamikaze operation" was carried out, in which planes loaded with explosives crashed into enemy ships. Many of the kamikaze pilots were young people in their twenties. In collaboration with the Chiran Kamikaze Peace Museum and Mansei Kamikaze Peace Memorial Hall in Kagoshima, panels explaining the background leading to kamikaze attacks and the departure bases will be exhibited. Photographs and farewell letters of kamikaze pilots will also be introduced.)
